The Executioner's Song by Norman Mailer

"The Executioner's Song" is a narrative nonfiction about the first man executed after the death penalty was reinstated. It was written from extensive interviews with hundreds of people who knew Gary Gilmore. I first read this as a teenager and it had long been a favorite. I enjoyed rereading it after all these years.
